Moses Ting's inspiration notebook.

I am officially in love with these graph style notebooks/sketchbooks by Muji.  Muji is one of my favorite stores because I can just go in there and roam around easily for hours.  The simplistic design of their products speaks to me.

Anyway, back to the notebook.  Why do I like it so much?

Well, first of all, the paper has a grid pattern.  As an engineer, that’s just plain awesome.  Everything I write has to line up, and the grids make it easy to do so.  As a designer, the grid helps with drawing wireframes and making conceptual drawings.  Geometric patterns get easier when you’re working with a grid.  The grid layout system is big in web + print design these days, so that’s also a plus.

Second, the notebook lays flat.  I don’t think I need to say anything more about that.

Third, they are extremely economical.  I’m a thrifty kinda guy, and won’t stand for overpriced crap.

Fourth, pair up the notebooks with a couple of Muji gel pens, and you’ve got yourself a killer combination.  The ink just works with the notebooks and it makes writing/drawing effortless.
